Leaves

The use of the written letter and the reference to nature have always characterized my work, which over the years has evolved into a more structured practice. I have incorporated the element of the leaf, which I incise with a scalpel, together with paper filaments cut line by line from books that I research and select. The leaf strips form the warp, and the paper ribbon the weft: they interweave like a textile, visible on both sides. The leaf retains its structural integrity but is completely renewed in terms of texture. My work arises from an intention to reflect on the human drive for narrative, the impulse to communicate despite everything. At the same time, I also explore what is omitted or erased, the gaps, the lapses of memory that interrupt or transform the story.
